And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. (Matt. 6:13)
Oh, Father!
Jesus warns us clearly. Satan wants to deceive, confuse, and draw us away from you. Satan tries to make us question Your love (Gen. 3). Without Your help, Father, he will deceive me.
Help me to recognize the deceiver and not mistake him for an angel of light (2 Cor. 11:14). Help me recognize the enemy’s devious plans and run from him. I want to be like Joseph, who fled from Potiphar’s wife despite what it cost him (Gen. 39:11–12; James 4:7).
Guard me against thinking I am too good to sin. Remind me that pride is Satan’s greatest deception (1 John 1:8). Father deliver me from this evil (Prov. 16:18).
Make me grateful and contented with Your plan for my life (1 Tim. 6:6). Change my desires until they align with Your will (Phil. 2:12–13). Let me see that You’ve given me my ministry assignment, not for what I can offer, but to conform me to the image of Your Son (Rom. 8:29).
Let me receive criticism with humility (Phil. 2:3). Make me ready to admit my failure and ask forgiveness.
Father God, please protect my children and grandchildren from spiritual forces of evil.
Give them the gift of your grace so they have faith to receive Jesus as Savior and Lord (Eph. 2:8–9).
Let them know you at an early age and be useful in the furthering of your kingdom all the days of their lives (Isa. 44:3).
Give each one a desire to listen to good advice and obey their parent’s instruction (Prov. 4).
Infuse them with understanding to discern foolish behavior in others and choose to follow the path of wisdom (Prov. 2).
Clear the way for them to grow up in Christ through the faithful study of the Word and to mature into the fullness of Christ through His Spirit (Eph. 4:14–16).
Remind me that I do not need to be afraid—Satan has already lost (Rev. 2:10), and Jesus has won the battle (1 Cor. 15:57). In union with Jesus, I am confident the victory is sure (1 John 4:4).
