A Light in the Darkness

January 12, 2022 Kristie Anyabwile

My soul clings to the dust; give me life according to your word! When I told of my ways, you answered me; teach me your statutes! —Psalm 119:25–26

Sometimes when we suffer and struggle, we experience a type of dryness where the Word of God can feel distant. But having someone speak the truth of the Bible to us will help to bring light.

The Lord gives us His Word so that we might have life, that we might see the light of day during darkness. And there’s no other way. We can’t successfully come out of seasons of darkness if we don’t have the light of the Word shining on that situation.

In those times of struggle, I need to have the Word of Life spoken and prayed over me. I need to be quick to take my burdens to God in prayer, trusting He will answer and will teach me and give me more of Himself.

That’s been the pattern of my life—in the midst of difficulties, I see the Lord come through when I spend time in His Word.
