Lies Women Believe: Updated and Available Now!

Hello friends! Today is Launch Day!

Launch Day for what?

I’m glad you asked!

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth’s latest book, Lies Women Believe: And the Truth That Sets Them Free, is released today.

I know what you’re thinking . . . Wait. Hasn’t this book been out for a while? Yes. Let me give you a little background.

Back in 2001, the first edition of Lies (as we affectionately call it in the Revive Our Hearts office) hit the market. This was before the advent of Facebook and iPhones and before public awareness of much of the gender and sexual identity issues that now shape our everyday lives. Back then Nancy was just beginning to teach on the radio, we didn’t have a website, and the first True Woman Conference was still seven years in coming.

Basically, it was a different world—with different challenges.

With that in mind, Nancy and Moody Publishers set out to update Lies Women Believe for a new generation. They enlisted Erin Davis, who leads our “little sister” blog, to manage the project and suggest needed updates and Dannah Gresh to contribute a brand-new chapter on sexuality.

After many, many hours of work by Erin, Dannah, and others; and many, many hours of Nancy writing on her back deck; and many, many hours of work by the Moody and Revive Our Hearts teams . . . the book is finally here.

Check out this gorgeous cover!

Now, I have to tell you—if you’ve already read and loved Lies Women Believe, you’re still going to want to get the book. Here are five reasons why:

1. There’s 30 percent new content.

Did I forget to mention this earlier? The book isn’t just updated, it’s also expanded. Nancy has added new insights on marriage, depression, family, and other topics that she’s learned from her study of Scripture, godly friends—and her marriage to Robert. Truth is timeless, but the ways we need it applied today look different than seventeen years ago. If you’re struggling to apply the truth you believe to today’s world, this fresh content is for you.

2. There’s a brand-new, insightful chapter on sexuality.

Check out these lies Nancy’s friend Dannah Gresh addresses in this portion of the book:

  • I can’t tell anyone.
  • My sexuality is separate from my spirituality.
  • This is who I am.
  • God’s standards for sex are out of date.
  • I have to have an outlet for my sexual desire.

Even if you’re not struggling with these particular thoughts, it’s likely you know someone who does. (I know I do!) The new Lies book may be just the resource you—or your friends—need.

3. There’s a new study guide available.

I don’t know about you, but if I’m leading a study, sometimes it’s just nice to have the questions already prepared. Whether you’re wanting to go deeper in your own study, you’re leading a small group, or you’re mentoring a younger woman, this resource is perfect to help you dig into the truth of God’s Word and make it practical.

4. You’ve committed to seeking God with us this year.

If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you may know that we’ve been focusing in on one theme this year: Seeking God Together. Really, that’s the focus of the Christian life: seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matt. 6:33). But how can we seek what God desires for us if we don’t know what He says?

To seek God, we have to replace the lies we’re believing with His truth. Lies Women Believe: And the Truth That Sets Us Free . . . it’s right there in the title. This book will help you identify the areas where you may be lacking Scriptural thinking and set you on the path of seeking His kingdom.

5. You’ll want it to match all the other Lies books on your shelf.

(Yes, that one’s a bit silly—but still valid, if you’re book-crazy like me. Nothing like a well-kept book collection!)

But more seriously, did you know . . . Lies Women Believe now has a “family”?

Consider buying the whole set to be equipped to share truth with anyone God brings across your path.

So . . . are you excited for the new Lies Women Believe yet? We are, too, so we’re going to be giving away copies of the book every Tuesday for the next month.
