Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Angels. They’re God’s servants who carry out His business in the world, and their job is to serve Him and bring Him pleasure.
Man: There were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them.
Nancy: The Son of God had been sent to earth, and He had come at His Father’s pleasure. And when the angels were sent to earth they likewise fulfilled the Father's will. Giving God pleasure is what angels do.
But actually, it’s what all of us are called to do, and should delight in—to do His will. So when you hear about the angels at Christmas, remember them doing the Father’s pleasure, as Jesus was doing the Father’s pleasure, as you and I are to do the Father’s pleasure every day, with all our hearts.
