Woe Is Me

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: The prophet Isaiah took a look at the people around him and discovered a lot of sin.

Isaiah: Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes. Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.

Nancy: In the first five chapters of Isaiah, Isaiah preaches to those who are materialistic, sensual, and immoral.

Isaiah: Woe to those who rise early that they may run after strong drink.

Nancy: Then we come to chapter six, where Isaiah encounters God in a new way. He has a vision of the holiness of God, and it totally changes his perspective.

Isaiah: Woe is me! For I am lost.

Nancy: When Isaiah compared himself to the depraved people all around him, he ended up looking pretty good. But the pure light of God’s holiness exposed the nooks and crannies of his heart.

When’s the last time you reflected on the holiness of God? When you do, you’ll probably want to respond in repentance.

With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
