What Do You Dwell On?

September 14, 2020 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” —John 8:32

The progression toward bondage begins when we listen to Satan’s lies. We may think it won’t hurt to be exposed to ungodly ways of thinking in the television programs and movies we watch, the music we listen to, the books and magazines we read, and the friends we associate with. But we don’t realize how subtly those deceptive philosophies can influence our thinking.

Once we permit Satan’s lies to gain an entrance into our minds, the progression continues as we dwell on those lies. If we don’t immediately reject deceptive ways of thinking but allow ourselves to entertain them, sooner or later we will begin to believe them. And what we believe inevitably is what we will act on.

When we act on the lies we have believed, we begin to establish patterns in our lives that ultimately lead to bondage.

But there’s power when we start hearing, dwelling on, and believing the Truth. When we fill our minds with God’s Word, when we know the Truth, the prison doors will swing open and we will be set free.

What can you do that will help you fill your mind with God’s Truth and keep it in front of you throughout the day?
