Daily Reflections

Priority Seating

“Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.” —Matthew 6:33

As we prepare to close 2023, I’m thoughtful of what we’ll need as we launch out into another year of bringing glory to His name. Truth is, we will fill our time with something. We’ll live out the true priorities that exist at the core of who we are, despite whatever priorities we profess. But will they be the right priorities? Will they help us stay focused on God’s plan for us?

They can—if we keep first things first.

One of those things is prayer. In prayer, we ask God for several things: wisdom; direction; help in being faithful in the way we use our time. As we seek Him, I believe He will give us our marching orders, ordering our steps in accordance with His unique plans for us.

What is birthed in our hearts through prayer will flow into the hours and days that eventually add up to our lifetime. Prayer makes sure we live with a humble acknowledgment of our need for His grace, knowing He is our only hope for fulfilling our created purpose.
