Praise Him in the Midst

July 29, 2022 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

I will praise you, Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. —Psalm 57:9

That word praise is translated from a Hebrew word that means “to use the hands, to revere or to worship God with extended hands.” It’s an expression of thanks to God. It means “bless the Lord.”

Most of us wait to praise the Lord until we get out of our storm and our troubles. But we need to praise the Lord while we’re still in it.

“I will still praise Him” (Psalm 42:5). Lift up your hands to the Lord. Give Him thanks; bless Him; revere Him; worship Him. Say, “Lord, You are great. You are good. You are God. You have not changed. You are all I need. You are sufficient. You are sovereign. You are wise. You are loving.”

The waves may be still beating against your boat, but you’ll be safe if you are a child of God. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
