In a Single Hour

March 30, 2022 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the mighty city! For in a single hour your judgment has come. —Revelation 18:10

When we see reports of great evil being done in our world, it seems as if it would take years for wicked institutions and individuals to be wiped out. Yet when God is ready, He can do it in a day, even an hour!

We don’t long for the destruction of the wicked. We long first for their repentance, for God to have mercy on them as He has had mercy on us. But we need to recognize and explain without apology that a payday is coming. And it’s not just for the likes of Babylon. It’s for any person, nation, or group that won’t let God reign over them.

There is no power, no nation, no force, no institution, no human system, no ruler, no person that is so great that God cannot bring it down in a moment when He chooses. If we want to sing the songs of Zion while we’re living in Babylon, this is what we must remember.

Make it Personal

How does knowing God can wipe out evil in a single hour encourage you as you contemplate what’s happening in the world today?
