The One Thing
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: If you could get just one thing done in your day, what would it be?
Woman 1: If I can just get some exercise, I’m okay.
Woman 2: I’m happy if I could serve dinner on something other than Styrofoam.
Woman 3: I’m lucky if I can take a shower before noon.
Nancy: In Psalm 27 David says, “One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple.” The one thing the psalmist wanted more than anything else was to develop a relationship with God.
I’ve found that if I make my time alone with the Lord the number one priority of my day, it changes my perspective for the whole day.
If you’re not in the habit of enjoying a daily devotional time, why not schedule some time in the next 24 hours? Meet with the Lord in His word and prayer. Make it the number one priority in your day.
With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
