Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Years ago when I built my home, the yard looked pathetic. The plants that arrived looked scrawny, and even though there was grass seed in the ground, all I could see was a yard full of dirt.
The next spring we pulled a lot of weeds, used some fertilizer, and pruned the plants. It still was less than spectacular. What I couldn’t see was that the work we were doing was helping the roots dig deep into the soil.
Now, years later, everything is different. I step outside to a beautiful array of flowers and plants. Those years of effort are paying off.
In your devotional life, maybe you’re in a season of letting the roots dig into the soil. You’re praying and reading the Bible but don’t see any results. Don’t give up. If you’re faithfully creating the right conditions, God will help you to grow. One day you’ll look back and realize how many areas of your life have blossomed for God’s glory.
