Serve with Gladness

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Do you ever find it difficult to serve joyfully?

Woman: Ugh! I’m on nursery duty today during Sunday school. Boy, I’d rather sleep in!

Nancy: Well, reluctant service really isn’t service at all. Psalm 100 tells us, “Serve the Lord with gladness!”

Think about it. Even in busy times, difficult times, times of suffering, we’re to serve the Lord, not just because we have to, but gladly. Cheerfully.

Whether what you’re doing seems major and significant or minor and insignificant—doing the laundry, the dishes, adding up yet another column of figures at work—doing that same task day after day after day, remember: It’s the Lord God we’re serving, not people. “Serve the Lord with gladness.” It’s a privilege.
