Seeking Him Podcast

Plagued by the Past

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Do you ever find yourself plagued by your past? I received this letter from a woman who had been controlled by shame for twenty-seven years.

Woman: “What can I say about the selfishness of my abortion? How do you forgive yourself for murder?”

Nancy: Then she went on to tell me what happened at a Revive Our Hearts Conference.

Woman: “This weekend I have accepted God’s forgiveness . . . the stronghold is gone.”

Nancy: Sin does separate us from God, but through Christ, the worst of sinners can be made clean and new. In 1 Corinthians 6, the apostle Paul writes to a church that included former prostitutes, adulterers, thieves, and drunkards.

And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God (v. 11).

Nancy: Your past doesn’t have to plague you. By God’s grace, your past can actually become a stepping stone to greater fruitfulness.

With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
