Fifteen Actions

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Love is more about actions than feelings.

Leslie: This is Seeking Him, with Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.

Nancy: First Corinthians 13 gives us fifteen characteristics of love, and each of them is active. Paul’s description is about actions rather than feelings.

For instance, first he says, “Love is patient.” Notice that he doesn’t say love feels patient. Instead, love actively practices patience.

The same is true for the second characteristic: “Love is kind.” Love doesn’t just have kind feelings. It actually steps out and does kind things.

As we read 1 Corinthians 13, we realize that love takes action no matter what our emotional state may be at the moment.

Ask God to help you love through your actions today—to demonstrate patience and kindness, no matter how you feel.
