More Vulnerable
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Throughout the Scriptures we see how much God values a heart of humility and brokenness.
Man: I thought humility was important—for everybody else!
Nancy: When people look up to us, we are more vulnerable to pride and self-deceit.
Man: Everybody looked up to me at church. I was a board member and a businessman. I had a model family. I thought I didn’t need anything.
Nancy: Once we have a position of influence, we have a reputation to maintain. We have a lot to lose if we get honest about our real spiritual needs.
Man: There was a room set up for people who needed to leave the service for prayer and counseling. I was a leader in the church and wondered what everyone would think. But I needed to humble myself. I went and asked for prayer and confessed my pride.
Nancy: Are you working hard to keep up an image? Or do the people who look up to you see an example of true humility?
