Bride: I looked for the one my heart loves; I looked for him but did not find him.

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: The Song of Solomon is about the love relationship between a king and his bride. There’s a part of the story where the bride realizes she’s drifted away from her bridegroom.

Bride: I will search for the one my heart loves. So I looked for him but did not find him.

Nancy: I can relate. There have been times when I’ve drifted away from the close relationship that I’ve enjoyed with my spiritual Bridegroom.

Over the course of time, I’ve let deadlines and projects crowd out the quality time with God that I had enjoyed in the past. Then, again and again, God has graciously wooed my heart back. His goodness has led me to repent and to re-establish my relationship with Him.

Bride: I found the one my heart loves. I held him and would not let him go.

Nancy: If you’ve drifted away from the Lord, would you confess it? Ask Him to restore your first love.
