A Record of Repentance
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Has the Lord ever convicted you of something while you’re reading your Bible, and a few hours later you’ve forgotten all about it?
There’s something simple that has helped me to remember. I try to write down what God has shown me from His Word. That helps me feel more accountable for taking action.
For example, I was once reading in Matthew 18 about a servant who was forgiven a huge debt from his king. Then that servant turned around and had a fellow servant put in jail because that servant owed him a small amount. Here's what I wrote in response:
“I’m so often like that forgiven servant who refused to forgive but demanded payment from his fellow servant who owed him a pittance. Forgive me, Lord, for not treating others with the same compassion I’ve received from You. May I be as generous in dispensing grace to others as You have been with me.”
If you have a hard time remembering what you read in the Bible, let me encourage you to get a journal and try recording your response.
With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
