Walls of Hostility

He himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility. —Ephesians 2:14

Right relationships—especially within the family of God—are a powerful means of communicating the gospel to a lost world. Our

God is a reconciling God, and when believers fail to resolve conflicts biblically, we discredit the gospel. When God’s people are reconciled to each other, we demonstrate the power of the gospel and make it believable.

In Ephesians, Paul explains that because Christ has reconciled us to God, we can now be reconciled to others.

That he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross. (2:15–16)

Have you allowed God to break down walls of hostility between you and other believers? Making things right won’t just give you freedom— it will also bring glory to God. If there is someone you need to be reconciled with, why not humble yourself and seek their forgiveness? You’ll be demonstrating the power of the gospel.
