The Next Generation

June 4, 2022 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

“Your children will be shepherds in the wilderness for forty years and bear the penalty for your acts of unfaithfulness until all your corpses lie scattered in the wilderness.” —Numbers 14:33

When we give in to unbelief in our lives, it doesn’t just affect us. It also impacts the next generation.

Almost every parent has experienced this. Our children become a mirror reflection of our responses to God. There are times when we walk in unbelief and fear that ultimately our children end up experiencing the consequences for our faithlessness.

If you won’t believe God for your own sake, will you believe Him for the sake of the next generation? Even if you don’t have children, you’re setting a pattern for the next generation to follow. There are others in your family, your workplace, or your sphere of influence who look at you and try to determine what they will do based on what they see in your life. They wonder, Can God be trusted? Can they move forward in faith, or will they walk in unbelief and fear? They are taking their cues from us.

Make it Personal

Pray that God would help your life to be an example of faith to the next generation.
