A Sharp Sword

September 2, 2020 Dámaris Carbaugh

The word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword . . . discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. —Hebrews 4:12

The Bible is the only thing that will show you how far you are from the Lord and how near you need to be. The Bible is the only way you’ll understand how your mind needs to be renewed.

Your personal devotional life totally depends on you being able to spend time with His Word—a lot! But if you want to know Jesus really well, if you want to please Him, what you need more than anything else is to become a person who loves the Word of God.

As it says in Hebrews, the Word of God discerns “the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” It exposes our thoughts and desires. And when you come to Him, holding nothing back, He will receive you and give you all you need to be completely devoted to Him.

Do you want to have a wonderful, personal devotional life? You need to love His Word. And you need to let His Word show you what’s wrong.

Make it Personal

Think of a time when the Word of God exposed something in your life that was wrong. How did that impact your devotional life?
