Our Exceeding Joy

July 12, 2022 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

Send out your light and your truth; let them lead me . . . Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy. —Psalm 43:3–4 ESV

I can remember a season in my life when I was praying about a major change in ministry. I sought the Lord in earnest prayer for about five months yet still had no sense of what He wanted me to do. Since I didn’t have peace to make a change, I finally decided God wanted me to stay where I was.

However, I wondered why God hadn’t given me a clear answer. I had prayed Psalm 43:3 many times. Then, months later, I became aware He had answered this prayer, not by saying “be in this ministry” or “live here” but by answering the real prayer of my heart: to find the presence of God. He had sent out His truth; He had sent out His light; He had led me to Himself.

That’s the goal as you talk to God; you get into His presence and experience Him as your exceeding joy.

Make it Personal

Pray that as you spend time with God, you would truly enter into His presence and experience the joy only He can bring.
