The Twelve were with him, and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and sicknesses. —Luke 8:1–2
The women in Luke 8 served the Lord with everything they owned. Among them were some with influence and resources, such as Joanna, the wife of Herod’s butler. Another woman, Susanna, contributed all her possessions to support Jesus and His disciples. These women were very supportive in the beginning of the Church.
I believe that, like them, we must try to put everything that we have, are, and do at the service of God’s kingdom. We may think that service may be small or insignificant, but it wasn’t when Rahab hosted the spies, and that tiny act of faith included her in Jesus’ lineage. Nor was it when Lydia hosted Paul and Silas in her house, giving rise to the birth of the church of Philippi.
Are you actively collaborating for His kingdom to come? Maybe you’re wondering how you can do it? The answer: serving in your church and putting your gifts to use. Ask the Lord where He wants you and what He has trained you to do.
