The Middle of Your Story

October 1, 2020 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

We know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. —Romans 8:28

You can’t understand the storyline of a novel by randomly opening it to a page in the middle. To get the whole story, you have to read the whole book.

There are pages and chapters in our lives that seem to make little sense. In the moment, they may even seem heartless and cruel, certainly not the kind of story a good God would write. But in the Bible, we discover the backstory. We see how our stories fit into God’s beautiful narrative of redemption.

If you’re struggling in the middle of your story today, anchor your soul to this truth: God has already written the ending! Not every chapter in this life has a “happy” ending. But every
true child of God will live “happily ever after.” We can be sure of that. His plan cannot be thwarted, and in the end the story He writes will be far better than anything we ever imagined.

How does knowing that God has already written the end of your story help you through difficult circumstances today?
