In Process

October 24, 2023 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

So then, dear friends, since we have these promises, let us cleanse ourselves from every impurity of the flesh and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God. —2 Corinthians 7:1

“In process” is the general term used to convey that work has begun but is not yet complete. The design is settled and the manufacturing is underway. “In process” is the promise of a finished product and is therefore a good way of describing a believer’s ongoing spiritual formation. We are “in process.”

During the process we begin to see and understand more of what God is doing in our lives and why He is doing it. We see some deficiency in ourselves that He is filling in, some wrong that He is correcting. Or perhaps He is making us more compassionate where in the past we might have been critical and harsh. God rounds our edges and softens our hearts.

The process is inevitable, and it is always for our good. God’s process is for our progress.
