Hope in Desperate Circumstances

April 18, 2022 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. —1 Peter 1:3

Now that Easter is behind us, what difference does the empty tomb make in our lives this week, next week, and the week after that?

The resurrection means there is hope in the most desperate circumstances. It means that God can make a way where there is no human way. It means that He is all powerful and nothing is beyond His control. It means that one day all tears will be wiped away and all sorrow will be turned to joy. It means that He can bring beauty out of ashes and He can cause even evil circumstances to bring Him ultimate glory.

It can be overwhelming to hear news of natural disasters, economic uncertainty, and world crises. But the resurrection encourages us to take a deep breath and remember that God is on His throne; He is in charge no matter how dark it gets in your life or in this world.
