His Ways Are Good

October 26, 2023 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

God saw all that he had made, and it was very good indeed. —Genesis 1:31

I am a firstborn, Type-A daughter of two firstborn, Type-A parents. I have always had strong opinions and tons of drive. I was a serious-minded child who loved school and dreaded recess, weekends, and vacations. I also wanted to be in charge of pretty much everything.

I loved God and wanted to please and serve Him. From elementary school on, I was eager to take advantage of ministry opportunities. But I struggled to reconcile my strong, outspoken, take-charge personality with what I understood to be a biblical perspective on womanhood. A meek and quiet spirit? I thought I’d have to have a personality transplant for that to ever be possible.

It took years for me to grasp that His design for women is not only right but it is also good . . . and even longer to truly delight in the magnificence and beauty of it. Admittedly, there are times when I still struggle with some of the concepts. But the more I grasp and say yes to His ways, the more I love them!
