He’ll Always Be There

December 4, 2020 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

“The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he.”—Deuteronomy 32:4

Certainly there are times when God’s relentless holiness feels more like a burden than a blessing. We find ourselves almost wishing that His flawless example and righteous requirements weren’t always so rock-solid and unbending.

And yet what divine mercy, that even when our human natures might shortsightedly wish for some wiggle room inside His absolute standard of perfection, there’s one thing in life we can always count on: God is holy and He is faithful. His holiness is more unshakable than the Rock of Gibraltar. While everyone else around us is subject to instability and change, He is always the same.

This steadfastness of God isn’t something to bristle at and quaver under. Rather it is a gift, the “blessed assurance” that no matter how unreliable those around us may be, no matter how unstable our own footing, how often or far we may fall, God will always be there.

God is ever true, ever trustworthy, faithful, and holy. Let us be grateful.
