“Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because what has been conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.” —Matthew 1:20
When Mary explained to Joseph what the angel had said, apparently he didn’t believe her. But Mary knew how to trust God. She gave Him time to work in Joseph’s heart.
Sometimes we as believers are sensitive to perceive spiritual truth before others in our lives do. The natural tendency is to think we must convince them of the rightness or the importance of the insight we’ve received.
Mary didn’t have that spirit. She didn’t feel it was her responsibility to convince Joseph. She didn’t manipulate or control. She simply waited on the Lord and trusted Him to fulfill His purposes. And in His time, God sent an angel to reveal to Joseph what he needed to know.
You may be tired of waiting for God to speak to your spouse or pastor or another spiritual authority. Don’t try to take matters into your own hands. Wait on the Lord. Trust Him. He will accomplish His purposes in His time and in His way.
