Down in the Valley

May 1, 2021 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

The hand of the Lord was upon me, and he brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord and set me down in the middle of the valley. —Ezekiel 37:1

In Ezekiel 37, the prophet Isaiah had a vision from the Lord, where he was in a valley surrounded by human bones. These bones had been there a long time and were bleached by the sun. There was no life anywhere.

It wasn’t enough for Ezekiel to hear about those bones or to see them from a distance. No, God took him into the midst of that valley to walk among them. If you are a child of God, the Lord’s hand is on you as it was on Ezekiel. There are times you may find He has set you down in a valley where there are no signs of life.

It’s necessary for us to go down into that valley, just as it was for Ezekiel. It may feel hopeless. Yet when God leads you there, He can give you a vision for what He can do, a vision of His power and glory.

Make it Personal

Ask God to give you a burden for the people around you who desperately need Him.
