With my voice I cry out to the Lord; with my voice I plead for mercy to the Lord. —Psalm 142:1
God first told Ezekiel to preach to the dry bones. Then He told him to speak to the breath. This is a good example of the role of prayer in revival and spiritual awakening. Ezekiel pleaded with God for a work of His Spirit to bring these corpses to life. He said, “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live” (v. 9).
Do you want to see dry bones in the valley around you live? Summon the breath of God’s Spirit. Only He can do what needs to be done to bring breath to these lifeless bones.
So, cry out to Him. Cry out on behalf of that wayward child, that husband who doesn’t know Jesus, that person in the workplace who has no life. Pray to the Spirit of God and say, “Come and breathe on these dead dry bones.”
There will be no personal or corporate revival in our churches and world if we do not ask God to send it.
Make it Personal
Pray for God to breathe on the people or churches around you who are not living for Him, so that “they may live.”
