Bearing Fruit

December 17, 2023 Kimberly Wagner

“By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.” —John 15:8 ESV

If our purpose is to fill the whole earth with God’s glory (Psalm 72:19), and we do this by bearing fruit (John 15:8), what does that actually look like?

Depending on your season of life, fruit bearing will be expressed through different venues. For example, the student who demonstrates perseverance and moral excellence will stand out as a testimony to others.

The single woman has multiple avenues to demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit as she serves others around her, whether in the workplace, church, or on the mission field.

The young mom’s day is burgeoning with opportunity to demonstrate godly character while also taking advantage of “teachable moments.” Her mission field sleeps under her roof. As her children grow, her field expands to include the many friends and family members who cross her doorstep through the years.

I challenge you to consider your season of life as the mission field in which God has placed you today. It is not too late to begin bearing fruit for the harvest.
