Read through the Bible, Day 297

Good morning. In today’s reading, Jesus teaches His disciples to pray with bold persistence, warns against every form of hypocrisy, and reminds us not to fear man but to fear God—who knows us intimately and cares for us infinitely. Amid greed, worry, and the pull of lesser things, He calls us to seek His kingdom first.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Luke 11–12

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

In what area of life are you most tempted to maintain an earthly focus? What would it look like for you to seek God’s kingdom first instead?

The only kingdom that will matter eternally is the kingdom of God. —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
