Read through the Bible, Day 298

Good morning. Today’s reading in Luke shows Jesus emphasizing the urgency of repentance, lamenting over Jerusalem, and healing on the Sabbath—revealing that God’s kingdom is marked by humility, compassion, and grace for those in great need.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Luke 13–14

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

In Luke 14, Jesus invites all who would follow Him to count the true cost of discipleship. What do you feel you have given up to follow Jesus, and what have you gained?

As we surrender our needs to God, they become material for sacrifice, something we can offer up to God in worship. Then as we surrender those longings, we look to Him to meet the deepest needs of our hearts. We trust Him to move in His time and in His way for His eternal purposes and glory. —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
