Yesterday we tackled the longest psalm—and chapter—in the Bible. In contrast, today’s reading includes fifteen short psalms, each crafted exactly as God intended.
Before you begin
Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.
Read
Review
Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.
Reflect
Psalm 130 cries out from the depths: “LORD, if you kept an account of iniquities, Lord who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness” (vv. 3–4). Have you been keeping record of the wrongs of a friend or family member? Perhaps today is the time to extend the forgiveness that has been so freely given to you.
As we get the truth of God’s Word into our hearts, it protects us from deception and from sinning with our tongues. Sometimes it’s hard to speak the truth. But the consequences of lying are ultimately more costly than the consequences of speaking the truth. —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1
Respond
Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
