Read through the Bible, Day 179

Today’s reading needs no introduction—the entirety of Psalm 119 sings the praises of God’s Holy Word. May its words draw your heart to praise Jesus, the Living Word.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Psalm 119

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

The psalmist composed 176 verses celebrating God’s Word, while many of us would struggle to list even ten characteristics. Take a few moments to thank Him for His Word, using a few of your favorite verses or descriptions from Psalm 119 as a guide.

O Lord, shine the light of Your Word into my heart, bringing wisdom and understanding. May all darkness be dispelled—let there be no pretense, no covering, no resistance. Just the pure, radiant beauty of Your presence and truth. Amen. —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
