Read through the Bible, Day 168

Is your heart confident in the Lord? As you’ll read in Psalm 57 today, it’s time to sing! Let your praise rise to the God who is steadfast in love and faithful in every circumstance.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Psalms 57–63

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

David didn’t only sing to the Lord in times of victory but also in the wilderness. Whether today finds you on a mountaintop, on the battlefield, or in the desert, you can lift your voice in praise too. Which words from today’s psalms can become the song of your heart?

Our enemy would have us believe we can’t be free, that we’ll always be prisoners to our habits and addictions. But the Word of God is filled with promises intended to fuel hope, expectation, perseverance, and triumph. No matter how enslaving your sin, it is no match for the overcoming power of the Spirit of God. —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
