Read through the Bible, Day 147

Today’s reading shows how Mordecai and Esther respond to Haman’s plot. Esther courageously risks her life to approach King Xerxes on behalf of her people. Through careful planning and prayer, Esther exposes Haman’s scheme, resulting in his downfall and the deliverance of God’s people.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Esther 4–7

In this passage, we see the Lord’s perfect timing and His protection of His people. How does witnessing God’s care in this story strengthen your trust that He is your defender against sin, Satan, and every enemy of His people?

"Sometimes when we look at things as they are now, we feel the gravitational pull of despair. Esther’s story reminds us that the way things are now is not the way they will always be." —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1
