In today’s reading, we complete the book of 2 Chronicles and spend time reflecting on the righteous reign of young King Josiah. Though his reforms were bold and sincere, they were short lived—as the people of Judah continued in their familiar cycle of sin, judgment, repentance, and restoration.
Before you begin
Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Review
Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.
Reflect
In chapter 34, verse 15, the priest finds the book of the law, and Josiah responds by tearing his clothes in grief over the people’s disobedience. It’s easy to wonder how God’s people could misplace such a treasure—yet how often do we live as if God’s Word is “missing” from our daily lives? Spend some time asking the Lord to help you treasure His Word and build your life on it.
"O Lord, You are sovereign over all earthly kings and kingdoms. You are the author and controller of human history and every plan of Yours will be fulfilled. Amen." —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1
