Jehoshaphat led Judah with a heart that sought after God. He called the people to return to the Lord and trusted Him to fight their battles. Yet even this faithful king stumbled when he leaned on human wisdom—a reminder of our daily need to depend on the Lord with our whole hearts.
Before you begin
Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.
Read
Review
Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.
Reflect
Ask the Lord to search your heart and reveal any areas where you’ve been relying on your own understanding instead of trusting Him. Pray for a heart that seeks His Word and His guidance above all else.
The greatest strategy in resisting temptation is putting our eyes on Christ and realizing He has paid the price for our deliverance. He succeeded at obeying the will of the Father when He was under temptation, and He will deliver us. Whatever your lifelong slavery may be, whatever you may struggle with, the hope for your deliverance is Christ.
