Read through the Bible, Day 123

David expressed his desire to build a permanent temple for God, but God revealed His greater plan. While David wouldn’t build the house, God promised to establish a lasting dynasty through his descendants—ultimately fulfilled in Jesus.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

1 Chronicles 17–19

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

Is there something you want to do for God that might not align with His plan? How can you trust Him and seek His greater purpose when your own plans don’t work out?

"God has promised blessings to those who remain steadfast under trial." —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
