Read through the Bible, Day 124

David experienced both victories and personal failures, including taking a census that revealed the danger of relying on human strength instead of God. Just as God showed grace and mercy to David and redeemed his failure, He can do the same for us.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

1 Chronicles 20–22

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

How does David’s example of humility and repentance encourage you to approach God when you’ve sinned or made mistakes? Take a few moments to thank God that His grace is greater than your failures.

"O Lord, show me how to invest generously the resources You have entrusted to me, in ways that will outlast my time here on earth. Amen." —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
