Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: At a time when people are thinking about New Year’s resolutions, it can be helpful to review the resolutions of Jonathan Edwards from the 18th century. Even though he was still in his teens, many of his resolutions showed that he focused on the end of his life.
Jonathan Edwards: Resolved never to do anything which I should be afraid to do if it were the last hour of my life.
Nancy: Edwards realized that when we keep the end of our lives in mind, it helps protect us from sin.
Jonathan Edwards: Resolved never to do anything which I should be afraid to do if I expected it would not be more than an hour before I should hear the last trump.
Nancy: He realized, “I may not die. Jesus may come back first. And I want to live today in light of His return.”
Are you living your life today in light of eternity? Remembering how short life really is reminds us to be seeking Him.
With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
