Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: In one of the first songs of Christmas found in Luke chapter 1, Zechariah said . . .
Zechariah: “. . . that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear.”
Nancy: Zechariah's song reminds us that we have been saved to serve. Having been “delivered from the hand of our enemies,” we are grateful, and we are motivated to serve Him with gladness. We're not saved as an end in itself but as an entryway into service.
And we’re free to “serve him without fear.” Not because we must (or else!), but because we have been redeemed.
The same gospel that delivers us from Satan and sin also sets us free to serve our Savior with all our hearts.
