Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: In one way or another, God calls all of us to surrender our plans to His plans.

Woman: My husband works at a church in the inner city, and he keeps talking about moving down there. I mean, it’s exciting, but it’s scary.

Nancy: We can learn a lot about surrender from Abram. He grew up in a pagan culture, but he obeyed when God spoke to him.

God called him away from the safe and comfortable place he was living. He told Abram to leave everything behind for a new country.

Think about the fears that Abram must have faced. Would his family’s needs be met? Would he be happy and safe? Would he ever see his friends and relatives again?

We have to trust those kinds of questions to God. As you go forward in faith, remember God’s promise from Genesis 15, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”
