A Glorious Future

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Have you ever wished God would give you a sign and let you in on His plans?

When Isaiah encouraged King Ahaz to ask God for a sign, Ahaz was unwilling to put his trust in the Lord. So Isaiah said to King Ahaz,

Isaiah: "Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel” (Isa. 7:13–14).

Nancy: God gave Ahaz this sign, not just for Ahaz’s sake, but also for the sake of all God’s covenant people. He was promising that a child named Immanuel would come to deliver all of His people, giving them hope.

Every child of God shares in that promise. This Christmas, pause. Remember. The Lord has assured for you a glorious future—no matter how dismal your life may seem right now. Are you trusting His promises? They are all fulfilled in Christ—our Immanuel.
