Control Freaks
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: When we try to assert too much authority, we can get stuck with an unfortunate label.
Woman: My boss is such a control freak!
Nancy: If you or I tried to bring the whole planet under our control, we’d certainly be called a control freak. Yet in Scripture we see that God is in charge of everything. He insists on “world domination.” And you know what? It is entirely appropriate. Why? Because He’s God, and we’re not.
Listen to these words from Acts 17:24–25: “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And He is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, He himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.”
When God asks us to surrender our lives to Him, it’s not because He’s a control freak. He’s the rightful owner and the only one who has the ability to truly direct every detail of our lives.
