Changing Habits

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: At one point in my life, I found myself coming home most nights after work, turning on the TV, and using it as a companion.

God began to show me that the TV was becoming a barrier in my relationship with Him. I’m ashamed to say that I resisted that conviction for a matter of weeks or months.

The real issue was whether I would obey God in humility and brokenness or whether I would resist Him in pride. You’re faced with the same decision every time God’s Spirit convicts you of something.

The problem for you may not be TV. There may be some other issue where God is calling you to surrender. But I’ll just tell you that when I finally said, “Yes, Lord,” and made the changes I knew I needed to make, it led to incredible new freedom and fruitfulness in my life. I don’t know what you may be struggling with, but whatever it is, let me just encourage you: Don’t delay obedience.
