Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: What comes to mind when I say “modesty"?
Woman 1: “It's kind of a boring connotation.”
Woman 2: “Fully covered—almost not wanting to have any style to their dress.”
Nancy: Modesty can sound like an idea that’s out of date, but actually, it’s something wonderful.
- Modesty brings you peace. You can rest knowing you’re being obedient to God.
- Modesty gives you power. You’ll be free from constantly changing fads.
- Modesty provides protection. You’ll be less likely to get the wrong kind of attention from the wrong kind of men.
- Modesty promotes purity. You’ll be more likely to get the right kind of attention from the right kind of guys.
- Modesty leads to praise. Others will value you for inward qualities, more than unreliable physical characteristics
Remember what God’s Word says: “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised” (Prov. 31:30).
