Womanhood Matters

October 11, 2023 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

It was you who created my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. —Psalm 139:13

I haven’t always been enthused that God made me a woman. As a younger woman who earnestly wanted to serve God and have a life that “counts,” I had an underlying feeling that if I had been a man, I could’ve been more useful to Him. I lacked a clear vision of God’s distinctive mission and calling for women.

However, in my early thirties, as I began to discover what His Word has to say about why He created male and female, what the distinctions mean and why they matter, and how He wants to use both men and women in His redemptive plan, I began to develop a sense of genuine joy and gratitude for the privilege of being a woman.

Discovering God’s divine design for womanhood and figuring out how to live that out has been an ongoing journey. But it’s been worth it! I pray that whatever place you’re in, that you, too, will take time to discover why womanhood is important and to explore its meaning from God’s perspective.

Ask God to teach you what true womanhood or manhood means and how you can live that out in your current season of life.
