What Are You Building?

While you wait for these things, make every effort to be found without spot or blemish in his sight. —2 Peter 3:14

I once read about a wealthy builder who gave his son instructions to build the best possible house and then left on a long trip. While he was gone, the son thought, Dad’s never going to see what this is like underneath the finish work.

So, he whiled away his time and cut corners. He made sure everything on the outside looked good, but he didn’t take much care for how sound the structure was. Then the day came when the father returned, went to the son, and handed him the title to the house to be his own.

As you think about the house you’re building on this earth, what kind is it? You will have to live with the consequences. Live in light of the return of Christ. As you wait for Him and anticipate His return, be diligent to be found without spot or blemish. If one day you want to hear, “Well done good and faithful servant,” you need to keep growing in your faith.

Make it Personal

Is your house of faith one that is solid and firm, or have you cut corners in the building process?
